Kindness is everything: You’ve probably seen this message many times before whether across social media or other aspects of daily life. Nevertheless, I want you to take a moment and really absorb this powerful statement which has the potential to bring hope and restore faith in the goodness of others. This is because, personally, the idea that kindness and love can trump hate deeply resonates with me and lifts me out of difficult times.
Additionally, I find it important to take the time to get to know and understand others so to best extend kindness and love to them. This is why I make a conscious effort to get to understand people’s narratives and go out of my way to interact with people from different backgrounds. One way that I am able to do this is through my passion for travel which takes me closer to other people’s realities, struggles, traditions, history, culinary delights, and artistic legacy. Additionally, travelling gives me the opportunity to enjoy the different landscapes, beautiful cities and other intangible aspects of local culture.
Many regions in Italy are living proof that love spreads easily. For example, Umbria is known not only as the country’s green heart but also as an area scattered with small towns and villages of honest and kind people. I was so inspired by the region that I created my five-part “Umbria” series to capture and share with others some of the landscapes that truly stood out to me during my visit.
Hope that you are able to reflect throughout this week on ways to bring the statement “Kindness is everything” into your lives. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic. Is travel one of the ways that you are able to relate to others and extend kindness? Or do you find that another activity more pertinent?
